Creative Studies

Creative Studies – Subject Intent
Creative Studies is a unique and student-led subject designed to give learners space to explore, express, and develop their creativity in ways that interest and inspire them. It offers a refreshing break from traditional academic subjects and encourages students to take ownership of their learning.
In this course, students will be introduced to a wide range of craft-based skills such as sewing (including using a sewing machine), clay work, weaving, felt-making, nail art, collage, and more. Learners are encouraged to follow their own interests, plan projects, and experiment with new materials in a supportive and flexible environment.

Further Information

Creative Studies is not just about making – it’s about thinking differently, taking risks, problem-solving, and enjoying the process. For many of our students, it’s a valued part of their week where they can unwind, get hands-on, and let their imagination guide their learning.

This subject values individuality, celebrates experimentation, and helps build practical, transferable skills that support wellbeing and confidence.

Assessment opportunities

Students will be assessed against their class-work

This is a non-examined course.

Students are able to achieve AQA Unit Awards, and ASDAN qualifications through this session, if they choose to.
