At our school, the intent of teaching Pearson Edexcel IGCSE English Language is to develop students into confident, analytical, and articulate communicators who can understand and respond to a wide range of texts with insight and independence. Through the study of fiction and non-fiction from diverse times, cultures, and perspectives, students are equipped to read critically, write purposefully, and speak fluently and persuasively.
Our curriculum is designed to:
➢
Foster a lifelong appreciation for the power of language in all its forms.
➢
Enable students to write clearly, coherently, and accurately for different purposes and audiences.
➢
Develop critical reading skills, including the ability to infer, analyse structure and language, and evaluate writers’ intentions and methods.
➢
Encourage students to become independent thinkers who can form and express ideas with clarity, creativity, and precision.
➢
Prepare students effectively for further academic study, the workplace, and a global society where communication is key.
By the end of the course, students will not only have the tools to succeed in their exams but will also have grown in confidence and maturity as readers, writers, and speakers of English.
